Program Title
Chemical Sciences (BA)
Program Description
A Bachelor of Arts in Chemical Sciences is an interdisciplinary degree that prepares students for careers that require a strong foundation in chemical knowledge in areas such as conservation, healthcare, forensics, manufacturing, food testing, water treatment, and business. The degree is important for the workforce because it will provide skills in problem-solving, analytical thinking, and technical instrumentation. The degree integrates communication and teamwork skills that are important in interdisciplinary environments. The BA in Chemical Sciences will produce versatile, scientifically literate professionals who can analyze data, communicate effectively, and contribute to innovation in a wide range of workforce sectors.
Chemical Sciences is a degree with core courses in chemistry with several interdisciplinary tracks. The chemistry core courses provide foundational knowledge of matter transformation, and the laboratory courses provide skills in lab experimentation, instrumentation, and analysis. Students will have hands-on experience with modern instrumentation such as HPLC (High Pressure Liquid Chromatography), GC (Gas Chromatography), PXRD (Powder X-ray Diffraction), AA, (atomic absorption) and FTIR (Fourier Transform Infrared).
